Why is Jesus asking to hate one's life? || Acharya Prashant, on Jesus Christ (2017)

“If anyone comes to me and doesn’t hate his
brother, father, wife and children and
his own life, he cannot be my disciple.”
BIBLE (LUKE 14, VERSE 26-27)
Acharya Prashant:
Question says:
Jesus said, “If anyone comes to me and doesn’t hate his brother, father, wife and children and his own life, he cannot be my disciple”. What does this mean? Because it seems something opposite to what I have been hearing all my life.
Thanks.
